These are glorious, thanks for the early Christmas gift! Just a heads up, though, that the "men are afraid women will laugh at them" article is still firewalled x
This post resonated with me, as I have just embarked on an enforced month off, in order to avoid a proper burnout… It’s been seven years of writing/teaching/presenting with no work-free holiday… Hmmm… And yes, I had to be told… not just by one industry professional, but two. It’s difficult to stop when work is creative and something you love, because you can forget that it’s also exhausting.
I am now about to start reading Emma Gannon’s A Year of Nothing… (in between Neneh C which is so beautifully written and completely enthralling). And I have started wearing red lipstick, which is a small but tangible pick me up…!
Thank you Sam. Listening to your podcasts has been brilliant. You have introduced me to all kinds of different people I didn’t know much if anything about and that has been hugely enjoyable. Enjoy your break and don’t be too busy! Wishing you every happiness and fulfilment in 2025 x
While I was reading your viral post, I kept thinking “She still sounds pretty busy to me, I hope she can see that and take a proper break when she needs to”. I find myself thinking this often when I hear very busy people talking about slowing down. It’s been a lifelong struggle for me too but menopause made me do it and I hope I’ve learnt my lesson for good. Thanks menopause!
wow thank you for the shout out and I'm so happy you read it. Really happy to be connected here! xo
It punched me right where I needed to be punched!

Well done! Be kind to yourself if you can. And I don’t know about you but I think “do what you love” has a lot to answer for x
