What Demi Moore's Golden Globes win really tells us about success as an older woman
And it's not, if she can do it, you can too

When Demi Moore’s name was read out as winner for best actress in a musical or comedy at the Golden Globes on Sunday, I had a lot of thoughts. In no particular order:
Eureka!
Go Demi!
Whoever manages that woman’s career is a genius. If she manages it herself, would she like to come and manage mine?
Have you actually seen The Substance? In what world is that a musical or a comedy? (We’ll come back to that in a bit.)
Miracles do happen!
How does she get her hair so shiny?
Can she bend over in that dress?
And awww look at her family’s joy on Instagram. Doesn’t everyone wish they had support like that?
What I did not think was this: well, yippee, this is a sure sign that the battle is won, older women’s experience and talent is finally recognised for the valuable resource it is, the titanium ceiling is shattered and, now, I and all other post-menopausal women are heading straight for the big time. Move over “silver foxes”, it’s our moment.
I mean, seriously. WTF? If there’s one thing experience teaches you it’s that hell will freeze over before the white middle-aged men budge up for anyone.
