The sad truth is we (almost) all still want to lose 7 (or 10) lbs
Yes, I know better. And, no, it's not making a blind bit of difference
Earlier this week, Sarah Jessica Parker was on Caroline Hirons’ beauty podcast Glad We Had This Chat, talking about her weight, amongst other things. Or, to be more accurate, the lack of it. “I don’t particularly think or celebrate being thin. I would prefer to have weight but that’s just the way my body works,” she said. Immediately the flags went up. The troll hordes marshalled! The Eye of Sauron swivelled in SJP’s direction! Too thin? Never! Not possible! Is she for real?! Humblebrag alert! Get her!
I get it. I really do. After a lifetime on a diet, and now with the additional 7lbs (or maybe 10) around my menopausal middle that refuses to shift regardless of weights/ pilates/ yoga/ walking/ running/ restricted eating/ probioticing, “too thin” is a fantasy I can only aspire to. (And yes, I do still aspire to it. And yes, I do know what a shameful waste of life that is, don’t at me.)
