Catch up with The Shift Bookclub Live with Anna Funder
The author of Wifedom, Anna Funder talks misogyny, art monsters and the erasure of the fabulous Mrs Orwell
Hi everyone,
Just a quick one to let you know that this morning’s The Shift Bookclub Live with Anna Funder is now live on YouTube. Thank you to those who came – I really didn’t expect it since we were on Australian time. If you (very understandably) weren’t able to make it, it was a really fascinating conversation that ranged from domestic labour, wifedom, being a “good mother/woman/wife”, misogyny and how women are erased from history (as opposed to just sidelined), to discovering Eileen O’Shaughnessy, her role in Orwell’s success and the ongoing “can you love the art but hate the artist” conversation. (Anna’s advice: if they’re showing you who they are, believe them!)
Do let me know what you think. And watch this space for an email winging its way to you with news of our September bookclub pick.
